Description
Seafood is one of the foundations of Korean cuisine. If you're curious about Korean culture, understanding how Koreans enjoy seafood will give you a completely new perspective on the country.
Korea is surrounded by the sea on three sides, and that geography has shaped not only what Koreans eat, but also how they gather, celebrate, and share meals.
That's why I'd like to invite you to something more than a simple seafood tour.
Hosted by a certified sommelier and former European restaurant owner, this intimate experience invites you to discover Korean culture through its seafood traditions, local markets, and the stories shared around the dinner table.
Explore Seoul’s famous Noryangjin Fish Market before enjoying a carefully curated seafood dinner paired with white wine at a cozy local home.
Begin your evening at Noryangjin Fish Market, Seoul’s largest seafood market. Walk through the lively market, exploring seasonal seafood while learning how Korea’s geography and history shaped its seafood culture.
Discover why freshness is so important, how seafood auctions work, why seaweed soup is served on birthdays, and why sharing dishes is central to Korean dining. Choose fresh ingredients before heading to a cozy local Korean home, dining space.
Over dinner, enjoy a relaxed seafood meal paired with white wine while sharing stories from both Korean and European dining traditions. Rather than comparing cultures, explore how different histories created different food traditions—and why both are equally fascinating.
Sample Menu
• Fresh seasonal sashimi
• Steamed abalone
• Seasonal shellfish
• Grilled fish (shrimp)
• Korean seafood ramen(Korean noodles)
• Carefully selected white wine
(Menu changes according to seasonal availability.)
Many food tours show you what Koreans eat.
This experience explores why Koreans eat the way they do.
Before becoming a cultural experience host, I owned and operated a European restaurant and worked as a certified sommelier.
After years of pairing European cuisine with wine, I realized that Korea’s greatest culinary stories are not found in fine dining restaurants—they are found around the everyday Korean table.
So, this experience will combine both worlds. Using my background in European dining and wine, I’ll introduce Korean seafood culture in a way that feels familiar, engaging, and accessible for international travelers.
Rather than simply serving seafood, I explain the traditions, history, and philosophy behind each dish while pairing the meal with carefully selected white wine.
