Korea's common plastic surgery procedures

Lifestyle

What are some of the most commonly researched and performed plastic surgeries?

Thinking about improving your physical appearance? Or maybe you have had a condition you have been looking at getting some support with and are ready to take the plunge? If so, have you dived into all the options available to you? Although cosmetic surgery can be a great option, it is good to have an idea of what you want and research all your options.

So, what type of procedure are you looking to undergo? If you still are not sure, maybe now is a good time to explore some of the common procedures performed. Here are a few common procedures to get you started.

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, or more commonly known as a nose job, is used to reshape the nose. Many get rhinoplasty to change the appearance of the nose, to improve breathing, or, sometimes, both. During the procedure, you may have the bone (upper), cartilage (lower), and skin changed. Your doctor should help you model out the perfect nose for your needs. Sometimes, rhinoplasty is covered by insurance.

Mammoplasty

Mammoplasty is a term that is often used to describe procedures done to the breast. These include breast lifts, breast augmentation, and breast reduction. There are three types of breast lifts that are used to lift the breast and often chosen by the amount of lift needed and reduces the amount of sagging skin that may occur after giving birth or weight loss. Breast augmentation, or implants, are used to increase breast size. You can head over to Shin Medical's Instagram for some great posts covering the different types available. Breast reduction involves removing some breast tissue and skin to reduce their size. A lift may be performed in conjunction with the other two. Depending on why you are having the procedure performed, insurance covers (rarely).

Chin Augmentation

Chin Augmentation is another common procedure that reshapes the jawline. You may hear this called the square jaw reduction or V-shape surgery. This surgery may involve removing some of the jaw bone and reshaping so the face heals in a new shape. It is often performed with other procedures like rhinoplasty to give the face a more proportioned look. Insurance does not usually cover this procedure.

Beyond the major surgical methods, cosmetic surgery can aid and help without ever making a single incision. You can thank the technological advances in lasers! Laser skin resurfacing in a common treatment that helps even out skin texture, color, stretch marks, and wrinkles. GOODBYE acne scars!

Vision Correction

LASIK or SMILE eye corrective surgeries are another common laser procedure aimed at correcting your eyesight. Once either of these are performed (totally awake, I wrote an entire blog on SMILE), you will see the world from a whole new perspective! One that is crystal clear.

Outside of laser procedures, you may also consider a chemical peel. Chemical peels are also used for improving skin surfaces (including hands and feet/gross but cool), appearance of scars, stretch marks, and acne.

Dental

Other common procedures that are gaining popularity are dental procedures. Who does not want a straight, pearly white smile? Veneers may help in both the look and functionality of teeth. Teeth whitening, dental implants, and gum lifts are also common.

There are so many options available to you for whatever you are looking to improve. What is crazy, this does not even scratch the surface to everything out there! Other body parts that people often target are hairlines, butts, and eyelids. As a reminder, it is important to find a qualified and trusted practitioner for all of your needs.
