Korea’s Feminist Movement: Past and Present On May 17th, in a Gangnam co-ed bathroom, a man waited and killed the first woman he encountered, primarily for being a woman. The murder sparked nation-wide debates on feminism, misogyny, and discrimination. It brought into public consciousness the daily fears and violence suffered by women and other minorities. The International Strategy Center invites Park Ji-A (director of Gender Equality Education Center at the Seoul Women’s Association) to discuss the Korean feminist movement: its concepts and its past and present. All are welcome. (The lecture will be held with simultaneous interpretation in Korean and English.) Lecturer: Park Ji-A (Director of Gender Equality Education Center)
