Discover a different side of Gyeongbokgung Palace through the private lives and relationships behind royal power.
This 90-minute storytelling walk focuses on the human side of Joseon’s kings. Behind the crown, a king was also a husband, a father, a son, and a member of a royal family whose personal relationships could influence the future of the dynasty.
As you move through the palace, learn how a future queen was chosen, what royal marriage actually meant, and how the king and queen lived inside the palace. Visit the royal living quarters and hear about queens, concubines, court ladies, children, and the pressures surrounding the birth and selection of an heir.
Rather than covering every building, date, and ruler, the tour follows one connected story: love, marriage, family, succession, and power. Each palace space becomes the setting for the next chapter.
The tour ends at Gyeonghoeru Pavilion, one of Gyeongbokgung’s most iconic sights, where you can take photos, ask final questions, and continue exploring the palace on your own.

Important Information
- This is a 90-minute walking tour with continuous walking through Gyeongbokgung Palace, so it may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility.
Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the starting time. Late arrivals may not be able to join once the tour has started.
The exact route may change if palace areas are temporarily restricted or closed. The main stories and tour duration will remain the same.
Hanbok rental is not included. If you wish to wear hanbok, please arrange your rental before the tour.
The Royal Guard Changing Ceremony is not part of this tour. Guests joining the 10:30 AM tour may watch the 10:00 AM ceremony independently before meeting the guide.
