Description

Step into a different side of Seoul and discover the refined world of Korean royal cuisine through a hands-on cooking class at Korea House. In this small class, you’ll learn how to prepare two traditional dishes, gujeolpan and royal tteokgalbi, with guidance from a Korean chef. More than a simple cooking lesson, this experience offers a closer look at the culinary traditions, presentation, and cultural meaning of food once associated with the Korean royal court. Your experience takes place at Korea House, a cultural venue in the heart of Seoul. After arriving, you’ll be introduced to the class and the ingredients before putting on an apron and beginning the cooking session. With step by step instruction, you’ll prepare gujeolpan, a beautifully arranged dish made with colorful ingredients served in thin wrappers, and royal tteokgalbi, a grilled beef dish known for its rich flavor and soft texture. As you cook, you’ll also hear about the customs and heritage connected to Korean cuisine. The class is designed for beginners as well as travelers with an interest in food and culture, so no previous cooking experience is needed. All cooking materials and utensils are provided, allowing you to focus on learning, preparing, and enjoying the process in a relaxed setting. The session is limited to a small number of participants, which helps create a more personal and attentive atmosphere. After cooking, you’ll move to the dining space to sit down and enjoy the dishes you’ve prepared. This shared meal is part of the experience, giving you time to appreciate the flavors and presentation of Korean royal cuisine in the place where you made it. The activity finishes after the meal at Korea House.
