Description
Welcome & Introduction
Your session begins with hanbok dressing, followed by traditional Korean tea and hangwa confectionery. A certified jagae craft tutor introduces the history of mother-of-pearl in Korean culture, the symbolism behind traditional motifs such as the crane, the pine tree, and the lotus, and the aesthetic principles that have guided Korean craft for centuries.
Choose Your Stone
From a curated selection of natural stones, you choose the one that will become your canvas. Each stone is unique in shape, texture, and weight — and yours alone from this moment.
Design Your Wish
Working with your tutor, you plan the layout of your design. Choose from traditional Korean motifs or create a pattern that carries your own meaning. This is the intention behind your stone — your wish, made visible.
Craft Your Wish Stone (approx. 50 min)
The heart of the workshop. Hand-cut mother-of-pearl pieces are applied to your stone one by one, under the close guidance of your tutor. The process is slow, precise, and quietly absorbing. There is no rush.
Finishing
Your completed stone is coated and sealed. Held under the light, it shifts — gold, green, blue, and white — depending on the angle. No two stones catch the light in quite the same way.
Take It Home
Your Wish Stone is wrapped in a traditional Korean bojagi cloth, ready to carry home as a one-of-a-kind keepsake from your time in Seoul.
We are located in central Seoul, just 3 minutes on foot from City Hall Station (Line 1/2, Exit 7) — within easy reach of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, and Cheonggyecheon Stream.
