Description

A day open to your interests in this huge city, which is full of places that are still little known. With a Frenchman who has lived in Seoul since 2009 as a producer or director of films and video content, previously a journalist, and a graduate in Political Science (Sciences Po). He speaks Korean very well and has produced or helped produce French feature films, documentaries, and reports in Korea. He has been working for tourism agencies since 2018. The tour can be customized based on: - the location of your accommodation - the point in your trip, what you have seen and plan to see - Your preferences, communicated in advance and on the spot - Your pace… Depending on you. We can put together a tour of “must-sees” that could include, for example: - Gyeongbokgung “Grand Palace”, with the possibility of seeing its spectacular changing of the guard (10:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.) - Bukchon Hanok traditional area - Gwangjang Street Food Market - Cheonggyecheon 'inland river' - Insa-dong Crafts Street - Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) But we prefer to introduce the following places, which we think are more beautiful, original, or symbolic of Seoul: - Changdeokgung Palace, sometimes called the 'Queen's Palace', which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its way of respecting nature, i.e., being built at an angle or on a hillside. It also has older buildings, a sumptuous park, and two other adjoining places: Changgyeokgung, an even more beautiful park, which has the oldest buildings of the Korean palaces. And the Secret Garden, which can be visited in groups every half hour and is often fully booked on the day. We help with bookings and avoid the highly sought-after English tours. - The Euljiro artisan and working-class district, with its chaotic alleyways around four indoor market buildings, which takes us back to the 1970s. With rooftop views of all of Seoul. - The labyrinthine Iwha-dong 'slum' district, with charming murals, along the ancient fortress that surrounded Seoul. - Dongdaemun Fabric Market, where you can find everything that goes into making a garment and understand why Seoul is an up-and-coming fashion capital. A fascinating multicolored maze, even if you're not into fabrics! - The 'Brooklyn of Seoul,' Seongsu-dong, which I also call 'Fashion Town,' a former working-class and student neighborhood that has become the hub of the latest fashion trends, with its factories converted into cafés and other trendy shops that are popping up every week. - Hongdae, the heart of the art and student scene, which we know like the back of our hand. - Nearby, Mangwon and its popular market, a neighborhood with classic working-class homes built of charming red brick after the war. Another reason for its popularity is that it leads to the banks of the immense Han River, which flows through Seoul. An undiscovered side of Seoul, with our little tips and fun facts. We can go even further depending on requests, as we have often done for clients with specific wishes.
