Description
Hike Bukhansan Like a Local
There are many trails in Bukhansan National Park, but most visitors never discover this one.
We’ll take the quieter Hidden Wall (Sumeunbyeok) route, a trail loved by local hikers. Instead of following the busiest paths, we’ll hike through peaceful forest trails and along a scenic ridge to a stunning viewpoint at around 780 meters.
And honestly?
This is where the magic is.
From here, dramatic granite peaks rise around us, with mountain ridges stretching into the distance. Surrounded by rugged rock formations and open sky, you’ll see a side of Seoul that feels worlds away from the city.
**A Hike at Your Own Pace**
Anyone who enjoys hiking and being in nature is welcome to join. We take our time along the trail, with plenty of breaks to rest, take photos, and enjoy the scenery.
The trail has uphill and uneven sections, making it a genuine mountain hike rather than an easy walk. On the way down, we follow a quieter valley trail. If water is flowing, we’ll stop by the stream for a peaceful break.
I’ll adjust the pace to the group and make sure there’s enough time to enjoy the mountain rather than simply rushing to the viewpoint. This personal approach is something many previous guests have particularly appreciated.
**More Than Just a Hike**
I want you to experience Bukhansan the way I enjoy it as a local. Along the way, I’ll share stories about the mountain, Seoul, and everyday Korean life, and there will be plenty of time to talk and get to know each other.
The goal isn't simply to reach a certain point. It's to enjoy the trail, the views, the conversation, and the feeling of getting away from the city for a few hours.
And if the weather is right and the stream is flowing, we may even stop by the water along the way for a refreshing break.
**The Perfect Ending**
After the hike, we’ll have a traditional Korean lunch at a small local restaurant run by a Korean grandmother. No tourist menus. No staged experience. Just generous homemade Korean food, warm soup, simple side dishes, and a genuinely local atmosphere.
The lunch has become one of the highlights for many guests, with reviews repeatedly praising the quality and generous portions of the meal.
**This isn't about conquering the highest peak**
It's about discovering a quieter, more beautiful side of Bukhansan, sharing the trail with a local, and ending the day with a real Korean meal.
