Getting Around in Seoul

So you've just arrived at your hotel. You should now go out and have dinner and explore the city however you are tired and it may seem a little overwhelming to find that subway station or even finding out which direction you should go after walking out the lobby front door.

Don't worry. You can still easily get to that restaurant you've seen or heard about on our business listings or visit that gallery exhibition on the events page. If you can't be bothered walking to the subway station and possibly transfering etc., simply get in a taxi and give the driver the address. The driver will plot in the address in the gps navigator. Taxis are inexpensive, about a 1,000 won per kilometer, and even if you are going from south to north or east to west in Seoul you should not pay more than 10,000 - 15,000 won for longer taxi rides. About 9-13 US$ and most of the time the rides are shorter and cheaper.

For example, if you want to get around within the City Hall downtown area expect as little as basic fare to 4,000 won (see more under public transportation in our useful info pages).

So there you have it. Anytime you can't be bothered walking that 20 minutes or waiting for public transportation, hop in a taxi! Enjoy.
