Gaon

3 star michelin, best restaurants Seoul

Gaon is one of only two 3 michelin starred restaurants in Seoul, Korea.

That in itself should speak volumes for its cuisine. We havent had the pleasure of being to Gaon yet, but it is our understanding that Guide Michelin only wanted to bestow the rare 3 stars to restaurants that honors Korean cuisine.

This means Gaon must be the lead example of what you can do with Korean fine dining cuisine. There are many modern Korean restaurants that received 1 star ratings, but they are more progressive in their cooking. Gaon prides itself on an interpretation of 'Sikchi, the Kings daily royal diet.

In Gaon's own words: 'In preparation of precious korean food, GAON has closely observed shik chi, which reflects the king’s daily royal table.
It was health that was put foremost in deciding what would be served to the most sacred one in the kingdom, in accordance with the royal doctors'.
