Changdeokgung Palace

Seoul

Landmarks Outdoor and Adventure

Changdeokgung Palace is listed as the UNESCO World Heritae site for its historical significance, simplicity and subtleness. The UNESCO committee described the site as an outstanding example of Far Eastern palace architecture and garden design, execeptionally in harmony with the natural environment.

Changdeokgung served as the main palace for many Joseon kings and is the best preserved among the five royal palaces of the Joseon Dynasty. Its beautiful garden is well known for perfect harmonixation with the surrounding nature and is probably also why people argue that this is the most beautiful of all four main palaces in Seoul.

There is a general touring course, lasting about one hour and is accompanied by a tour guide. English tours are also available, they usually run at 11.30 am and 2.30 pm from March to December. Tickets can be bought at the entry gate. Anguk station, exit 3.
