Comparable to Soho, NYC. Numerous art galleries, unique shops, cafës and architecture. Landmark: Seolseo Tea House.
This is far from your typical city street with stores selling mass-produce. Shops along Samcheongdong boast distinctive items by local artists and designers. This is an area filled with peacefulness, art galleries, each with its own unique architectural design. Boutique fronts look stylish and cute and many of them are specialty shops selling trendy accessories and fashionable clothing, mostly womenswear. Enjoy art, architecture, shopping, dining and coffee and traditional tea, all in this charming and neighborhood.
Samcheong park is at the end of the walkway - famous for its scenic views. Samcheong means 'three good' referring to the three things this area has plenty of: Majestic neighboring mountains, clean water and kind residents. The aristocratic classes during the Joseon Dynasty used to live in Samcheongdong. These beautiful antique houses maintained remarkably well can be found in the Bukchon Village and they are also one of the reasons that makes Samcheongdong one of the most extraordinary places in Seoul.
Local Tip!
Visit 5Ci Jung Café, it is the perfect place to take a break from your Samcheondong stroll and indulge in an afternoon snack. We recommend trying the freshly squeezed lemonade. It's refreshing and wonderful, served in a big jug with free set of homebaked scones and jam. Get a seat by the window and do some intense people-watching while enjoying a delicious afternoon snack!
